Usual CCNL

Metalworking (Metalmeccanico industria). It sets levels, pay tables, travel rules and shift premiums in detail.

Typical roles

Field service engineers, mechanical and electrical design, automation and PLC, applications engineers, supplier quality, project managers.

Where they are

The industrial north: Lombardy (Milan, Brescia, Bergamo), Emilia-Romagna (Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia), Veneto (Vicenza, Padua), Piedmont (Turin).

Salary bands

What to know

  • Travel is regulated. The CCNL sets travel allowances and how travel time is counted. Field roles with frequent trips need this priced in.
  • Workplace safety. Italy requires a risk assessment, safety training and health checks for the role. We arrange them before the first site visit.
  • Work injury insurance. INAIL premiums depend on the risk class of the activity. Field and site roles cost more than office roles. [INAIL rate for technical roles to verify]
  • Working abroad. If your engineer goes to customers in other EU countries, postings need prior notice in the destination country. We handle the paperwork.
  • Company van or car. Usual for service engineers, with fuel card and tolls. We manage them as benefits.
  • Metalworking CCNL extras. It includes a supplementary health fund and flexible benefits that you pay as part of the employment cost.

Cost example

A field service engineer under the Metalworking CCNL: gross salary, social contributions at industry rates, 13th month, TFR, travel allowances on actual trips, plus our fee of €250 per month. Travel costs vary, so we bill them on actuals.
